The Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the organisation’s operations, investments, and reputation for a leading Assest Management company in Cape Town. The role ensures effective risk management frameworks are embedded across the business in support of strategic objectives and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess risks across investment portfolios, operations, and business processes

  • Develop and maintain risk registers, risk maps, and key risk indicators

  • Design, implement, and review risk management policies and frameworks

  • Monitor and report on risks to EXCO, the Board, and relevant committees

  • Develop and oversee risk mitigation strategies and internal controls

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including FAIS, FICA, and POPIA

  • Collaborate with investment, compliance, and operations teams

  • Support risk training and awareness initiatives

Experience and Skills

  • 5–7 years’ experience in risk management within financial services or asset management

  • Strong knowledge of South African regulatory requirements

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Professional risk certifications (CRM or IRMSA) advantageous

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or related field (postgraduate preferred)

  • Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification
