The role of the Operational Command Centre (OCC) Event Analyst is to monitor customer systems and infrastructure, to resolve system and application failures and to alert according to company’s process and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the availability of the customer systems and infrastructure at time intervals as indicated in the Master Schedule
- Monitor the availability and utilisation of server and network infrastructure via the System Management Console (SNMP / SolarWinds / BMC / SCOM)
- Identify system failures and errors
- In event of system failures provide 1st and 2nd line support.
- Liaise with customer/management in event of failures and restarts of key customer business applications
- Ensure all monitoring alerts are logged on the Incident Management System and updated accordingly to provide audit tracking and assigned to the appropriate resolver group or 3rd Party
- Liaise with relevant resolver group and standby personnel for 2nd or 3rd line problem resolution and provide assistance in regard to the restart of applications, servers and network infrastructure
- Data backup procedures are completed; implement the tape management procedures in respect of off-site storage and tape recycling
- Customer Support
Knowledge
- 1 year server experience or 2 years desktop experience
Desirable Knowledge/Skills
- 2 years Wintel/Linux/UNIX server support
- Any Event or Batch Management experience
- Systems monitoring (SCOM, BPPM, etc.)
Qualifications
- Matric
- Microsoft Windows Server certification (2008, 2012 or 2016) or any other server based OS certification (Linux, VMWare, etc.)
- IT Related Degree / Diploma, certifications in Windows Server, VMWare, Citrix, Cisco, Exchange, SQL, Oracle, NetBackup or Backup Exec (Desirable)
