1st Line Technical Support Engineer

Are you a technically curious, service-driven IT professional looking to grow your career? A growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Cape Town with a reputation for excellence, is currently looking to hire a 1st Line Technical Support Engineer to join their team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide 1st line support to a global client base via email, phone, and remote tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • Support Microsoft technologies, both cloud and on-premise
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on more complex incidents and project work
  • Document IT systems and solutions, including network diagrams and processes
  • Occasionally visit client sites in South Africa for on-site support and implementation
  • Deliver high-quality, client-focused service with professionalism and attention to detail

 

What You’ll Bring:

Experience (1–2 years) with:

  • Windows 10/11
  • Microsoft Server (2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Office 365, Exchange, OneDrive
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS
  • Basic networking (VLANs, IP routing), wireless networking
  • SIP/IP telephony
  • Enterprise antivirus (Bitdefender preferred)
  • Backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, MSP360, LiveVault)
  • Troubleshooting third-party apps and systems

 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Microsoft, SonicWALL, or HP Networking certifications
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, firewalls, and IT security best practices
  • Exposure to virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, vSphere)

  • A confident communicator with a customer-first attitude
  • Well-organized and calm under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, with strong time management skills
  • Proactive, adaptable, and a natural problem-solver
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating within a team
  • Willing to step outside your job scope when needed
