Infrastructure Support Engineer (Tier 3)

Our client and international IT Managed Services Company are looking to hire an experienced 3rd Line support engineer to provide remote support to various international customers across Email & Collaboration, Wintel, Virtualisation and Cloud technologies. This is an infrastructure support role and not focused on user/account administration.

  • Supporting customers’ infrastructure environments remotely from Cape Town
  • Incident investigation and resolution in accordance with agreed SLAs and working within the ITIL framework
  • Pro-active monitoring using, amongst others, automated tools/reports where available
  • Project work for new deployments/migrations/upgrades as required
  • Root-cause analysis for complex issues as per the problem management process
  • Ad-hoc out of hours work as required for changes and project work
  • Creating and reviewing on a regular basis documentation assisting the team in its day-to-day work
  • Assess supported customer environments with a view to suggesting initiatives that could serve to improve the levels of support and service we provide as a team
  • Mentor and assist team members when required


  • Minimum 4 years advanced Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2016
    • Microsoft Active Directory 2008 or higher (AD, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy)
    • Microsoft CA’s, SSL certificates and Public Key Infrastructure
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years’ Microsoft Azure implementation, configuration & management
  • Minimum 4 years advanced vSphere 5.5 or later
  • Excellent understanding of network basics (IP addressing, subnets, routing, firewall behaviour, etc).
  • Excellent skills in drafting or updating technical documentation
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013 or higher
  • Microsoft Office 365/Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Skype for Business
  • PowerShell scripting (analyse, edit & create)
  • Advanced Citrix XenApp 7.6 or Later experience

Desirable Knowledge/Skills

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft SharePoint Online
  • Mobile Device Management (Intune)
  • Email Archiving Solutions (Symantec Enterprise Vault, Mimecast)
  • Knowledge and experience of email security and hygiene products (Symantec Mail Security for Exchange, Mimecast and Cisco IronPort)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in creating technical designs for the above technologies
  • Symantec EndPoint Protection v12+ Administration and Support experience
  • Advanced Citrix XenApp 7.6 or Later experience


  • MCP, MCITP and/or MCSE certification in Exchange 2013+, and/or Exchange Online/Office 365
  • MCP, MCITP and/or MCSE certification in Windows Server 2012+

Desirable Qualifications

  • VMware VCP 5.5+
  • Certification relating to any or all of Microsoft Skype for Business, Mimecast, Symantec Enterprise Vault
  • Citrix CCA-V or CCP – V
